Invitation to the 13th FAOBMB Congress

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is my great pleasure to cordially invite you to attend the 13th FAOBMB Congress during 25-29 November 2012, in Bangkok. This international event is co-organized by BMB Thailand, Chulalongkorn University, and Mahidol University. Under the theme “Discovery of Life Processes : From Biomolecules to Systems Biology”, the Congress will include not only traditional areas of Biochemistry and related disciplines such as Protein Structure and Function, Gene Regulation and Signal Transduction, Cell and Developmental Biology, Biochemical Education but also forefront areas such as, Systems and Synthetic Biology. You will also find exciting applicational aspects, such as, Stem Cell Research and Therapy, Nanotechnology, and Bioenergy, among our wide array of more specialized symposia.

The Congress is a series of its kind held every three years in the FAOBMB country region. The 12th Congress was held at Shanghai Convention Center in 2009 with tremendous success. The venue for the 13th Congress is at Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center (BITEC) which is localized in an easily accessible area by the Bangkok Expressway and the Sky train interconnected to the Metropolitan Underground System. The Congress will provide the opportunity for biochemists, molecular biologists and biotechnologists from around the world, especially in the FAOBMB region, to meet and learn from each other. This scientific forum will comprise of seven Biochemist Nobel Laureates and renowned scientists as Plenary Speakers, invited and oral lectures, poster presentation, and up to 50 exhibition booths. For PhD students and early-career scientists, come and enhance your experience and reshape your CV by joining the Young Scientist Program which is a two day-program before the Congress and it is free of charge! So, look for the application and selection criteria whether you fit to this category.

In addition to the exciting range of scientific programs, please come to explore the charm and beauty of Bangkok, the world’s best city award winner in 2010-2011 from the US Travel and Leisure Tourism Magazine. Being the capital of Thailand, Bangkok is one of the world’s most exciting and exotic cities, a dramatic contrast between ancient traditions and modern city life.
